California Surfcraft is a small surf company working to change the environmental trajectory of the surf industry through innovative, high performance products that emphasize the natural bond between surfers and the ocean. We offer a small product line of handmade, alternative surf craft built out of marine-grade cork, Super Sap bio-epoxy and fiberglass. Our unique boards offer watermen and waterwomen a fun, fast ride with a fraction of the carbon footprint of traditional foam and plastic gear.
Sophia Shluger is the new CEO of California Surfcraft. Born right off the beaches of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Sophia has been a long time nature enthusiast, environmentalist and activist for both physical and outdoor recreation. Her love for waves began in earnest while working as an Outdoor Living Skills Counselor at YMCA Camp Erdman in Waialua on the north shore of Oahu in Hawaii.
With Dave's vision and continued support, Sophia is excited to take California Surfcraft to the next level.
Dave Hahn is the Founder of California Surfcraft. He is a father, a husband, a cancer survivor, and an advocate for unlikely career paths. After a long career in New York City as a pianist and conductor, Dave moved to the Richmond District of San Francisco and fell in love with the mercurial waves of Ocean Beach.
In 2015, after several years of tinkering with different designs and materials, he founded California Surfcraft as the first cork-focused, no-foam surf company in the world.
